TOBI Amusan produced fast times in two different events last night at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in the United States of America.

The world record holder and world champion in the women’s 100m hurdles kicked off her 2023 outdoor season with impressive podium finishes in her specialised event and the 100m flat.

She placed second in the final of the women’s 100m hurdles at the meeting in a time of 12.59 seconds.

Nia Ali won the event in 12.53s while Devynne Charlton finished third in a time of 12.64s.

In the 100m flat, Amusan clocked a time of 11.10 seconds to set a new personal best in the event in her third race of the day at the Florida meeting.

The timing in both events makes her the fastest African woman this new season over 100m and 100m hurdles.

Amusan made history last year by becoming the first Nigerian ever to both win an individual World Athletics Championships title and set a world record.

She returned a time of 12.12 seconds in the 100m hurdles semi-final to break the old world record of 12.20s and followed up with the gold medal in the final.
