THE Federal Executive Council yesterday granted citizenship to 385 foreign persons currently living in Nigeria.
The interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, revealed that 68 applicants were given citizenship by registration while 317 applications were granted citizenship via naturalization.
All of the candidates, he stated, met the requirements for such honour.
“Federal Executive Council at its meeting today approved the granting of Nigeria’s citizenship by naturalization to 317 applicants and Nigeria’s citizenship by registration to 68 applicants.
“Those granted citizenship have met all the constitutional and administrative requirements for the grant of Nigerian citizenship,” Aregbesola explained.
Additionally, the minister stated that the council had given the go-ahead for a unique fire detection and alarm system to be put in all firefighting stations around the nation.
Adding that the initiative will be cost free to the government and totally digitalized, enabling quick response to any fire emergency.
