MUYIWA Awoniyi, the manager ofTemilade Openiyi aka Tems, has recounted how the singer held praise and worship sessions in her prison cell while being detained by Ugandan police.
He disclosed this in an interview on the latest episode of Menisms’ audiovisual podcast which was shared on Thursday.
In 2020, Omah Lay and Tems, were arrested by officers of the Uganda police in Kampala for flouting covid-19 guidelines.
According to Awoniyi, Tems held praise and worship in the female section of the prison cell and had the prisoners sing along with her.
He said, “Entering prison, as a woman, Tems, they have taken her to the female section. I was just worried about her. I am not with her. I was just wondering what the hell is going on.
“I came to find out that Tems conducted praise and worship in a whole prison cell. Everybody was singing with her. Like she took over the whole prison.”
