THE Senate yesterday urged the Federal Government to abandon its intention of destroying the aviation agencies’ headquarters at Lagos’s Murtala Muhammed Airport.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority were asked to relocate to Abuja, however aviation workers stated that staff members who had relocated had not yet been paid, prompting labor unions to confront Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika about the plan to demolish the offices.

The proposed demolition had also prompted a strike action threat from aviation unions.

The Senate yesterday then requested the aviation minister to stop the anticipated demolition following a motion made by Senator Biodun Olujimi.
