THE Flying Eagles have begun the final lap of their preparations for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina with their first full training sessions in the host country.

Head coach Ladan Bosso and his assistants took the boys through their paces yesterday, one day after they landed in Buenos Aires.

The session which took place at the team’s Howard Johnson Hotel & Resorts base lasted for 90 minutes, and concentrated on recovery after the long trip from Nigeria to the South American nation through Turkey.

The team had another training session today, as they build up towards a friendly match against the Colombia U-20s, which has been scheduled for the Tristan Suarez Stadium in Buenos Aires next Tuesday 4pm Argentinian time (8pm Nigerian time).

Colombia, who play in Group C of the FIFA U-20 World Cup alongside Senegal, Japan and Israel, will seek the opportunity to have an idea of what to expect against the African champions when both teams clash in La Plata on Saturday, May 27.

Incidentally, Nigeria will also be utilising the friendly with Colombia to have a feel of another South American team, Brazil, also in La Plata on the same May 27.

The Flying Eagles will head to Buenos Aires to Mendoza – venue of Nigeria’s first two matches against the Dominican Republic and Italy – on May 17.

Nigeria are in Group D with Italy, Brazil and Dominican Republic.
