SEVERAL clubs across Europe, including English Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, are believed to be interested in Nigerian youngster Gift Orban.

The Standard reported today that the three clubs, along with Fulham, have sent scouts to check out the striker’s performances with Belgian Pro League club Gent.

Orban, 20, has scored 19 times in 19 appearances so far this season in the Belgian top flight and UEFA Europa Conference League since joining Gent at the end of January from Norway’s Stabaek.

His scoring rate of a goal every 75 minutes is one of the best in Europe this season.

Orban played for Gent in both legs of their Conference League quarter-final defeat to West Ham last month and also helped his side secure another season in Europe with five goals in three play-off matches.

Apart from the English quartet, several top clubs across Europe have also sent their representatives to watch Orban play, and a move this summer could be on the cards.

However, the Standard clarified that Gent do not need to sell one of their best players, who is under contract until 2027.

Only a huge transfer fee would tempt the club to sell Orban, who is believed to be happy to stay in Belgium for at least another season.
