Awoniyi fires Forest to safety, ends Arsenal’s EPL title bid

TAIWO Awoniyi was the hero once again for Nottingham Forest tonight, scoring the only goal as they defeated Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground.

With the result, Forest are guaranteed another season in the English Premier League as they are six points clear of the relegation zone.

The in-form Super Eagles striker netted from close range in the 19th minute for his fifth goal in three games.

The goal also ended Arsenal’s slim hopes of winning their first title and installed Manchester City as the champions for the third season in a row.

Second-placed Arsenal are four points behind City, with only one game left for the Gunners.

City will be officially crowned champions tomorrow at their Etihad Stadium ground when they host Chelsea.
