VICTOR Osimhen has been shortlisted for the Striker of the Season award in Serie A following his exploits with Napoli in the current campaign.
The Nigeria international will vie for the prize with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
Osimhen is the top scorer in the Serie A this season with 25 goals and his strikes inspired Napoli to their first Scudetto in 33 years.
The Super Eagles star has emerged as one of the best marksmen in Europe this season and attracted interest from clubs across the continent.
On his part, World Cup winner with Argentina Martinez is just behind Osimhen in the Serie A scoring charts with 21 goals for third-placed Inter Milan, and he also netted three times in each of the Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League.
Inter Milan won the Coppa Italia and will face Manchester City in the Champions League final on June 10.
Leao has been brilliant on the left flank of the AC Milan attack, the Portugal forward registering 13 goals and eight assists to help last season’s champions to fourth place and a Champions League spot.
The nominations for Series A’s best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and U-23 player have also been announced.
The nominees for the overall Most Valuable Player will be unveiled on Friday with Osimhen expected to be in the top three.
