THE Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has approved the recruitment of 1,684 secondary school teachers, extension workers, and staff of the state-owned Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.
State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu Haruna, disclosed this yesterday.
From the 1,684 to be employed, a total of 1,000 teachers for English Language, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, and ICT were approved to be employed.
Haruna said the approval followed the lifting of the embargo of employment into the state civil service by Governor Mohammed in his inaugural address on May 29.
Alhaji Adamu also revealed that 150 staff will be hired for the Aminu Saleh College of Education in Azare, and 206 extension workers and farm managers will be hired for the state Ministry of Agriculture in order to fulfill the Governor’s promise made during the launch of the 2023 farming season and fertilizer sales in Azare.
He then appreciated the Governor for his approval, which he said would not only provide essential workers in vital industries but would also improve the state’s economic standing.
The state council of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, reacted positively, saying that by lifting the prohibition on employing in the state, Governor Mohammed shown that he was a listening governor.
The state NLC chairman, Comrade Dauda Maidara Shu’aibu also commended the Governor for his efforts aimed at reducing the unemployment rate in the state.
