I DIDN’T want a social party .
I wanted to have quiet prayers and kill a ram, share with friends in my compound .
One bc I hardly go out and I’m a recluse . Those close will confirm this.
So I said who will attend when I hardly attend others’ dos .
I hardly even have the resources for a big party.
Then people jumped in… Ojesina and Popoola paid for a band and dared me to put them at my gate . So i was forced to get a hall.
Zmirage donated 2 big screens. Dupe organised and chipped in on the food
Thelma broke bones for the decorations.
Funke sent dresses for my baby , the cake and the beads on our necks.
Don Tee did the pamphlets, Okanlawon, Obalana and Dayo mobilised heavy logistics,
Sodimu Mceed for free.
Channels , Sun, City people, Olatilo , CKN, Guardian all published and transmitted for free.
Ottun in Ikorodu did Abula for no gains .
Rolake from US paid for asun ram .
Wilbert and all 3 decades of DUDU staff did documentary and became servers.
My sons went overboard .
Then the alerts, Amosun, Whingan, Pemi, Kuye, Miwawiwe, my joggers friends in Omole , chair Tobi, Pastor Rotimi,Shina Peters, many many I can’t list.
How come I deserve all these?
On D-day it rained heavily,
The new petrol price was also a shock . Then I lost hope.
But they shocked me . They shuffled into the hall, wet.
And they came . The hall was full. The rain became a blessing.
How would I have been able to cope if they had been more than these?
From Europe, US they came.
I looked at the high table… Odegbami, Kelani, Popoola, Jokosenumi, Ojesina, Adetayo, Sowoolu, Kuye, Doyle, Idro, Ghani Odugbemi,Hunga, Awonaya, Oworu, Yonwa, Seido, Risi, DUPE, IGE, Abati , Otudor, many were looking nice in the white and gold color of the day.
In the hall, many friends I had not seen for years, some for decades! Even some exes I thought we would never talk again!
It’s taken me 2 weeks to say thansk bc I was overwhelmed.
So people are this sooo humane? What have I been doing right to merit these?
Tributes and messages on social media were almost suffocating. My WhatsApp, my IG.
Ajogan , the Royal women from Whedah moved me close to tears on my Oriki chants.
Ogodo from Egba made me dance so much I started having leg cramps .
Thanks. Thanks . Thanks . Thanks Thanks . Thanks .
E seun . E seun. E seun . E seun. E seun. E seun
E MI KO . OLORUN MA NI!
