THE Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment and deployment of eight Commissioners of Police to various state commands in the country.
It commended the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun for adhering to its latest policy on gender sensitivity in his recommendation.
The PSC also urged the IGP to include more officers of North-East and South-East geo-political zones that are yet to record the 15 percent benchmark as decided at its last plenary meeting in subsequent proposals.
In a statement released the Commission’s Secretary, Ikechukwu Ani, the newly appointed Commissioners of Police are: Godwin Aghaulor, CP Borno State; Adelesi E. Oluwarotimi, CP Kwara State; Adebola Ayinde Hamzat, CP Oyo State; Augustina Ogbodo, CP Ebonyi State and Samuel Titus Musa, CP Kebbi State.
Others are Aderemi Olufemi Adeoye, CP Anambra State; Stephen Olarewaju, CP Imo State Command and Alamatu Abiodun Mustapha, CP Ogun State.
PSC Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, said the deployments as recommended by the Ag. IGP was on the average, fair, and commended the IGP for the inclusion of women in the new appointment.
Dr. Arase, a fotmer IGP, advised that the Ag. IGP to also consider the disadvantaged geo-political zones while forwarding subsequent proposals for Commission’s ratification.
