THE draws for the next Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and the CAF Women’s Champions League will be held in the next two days by the Confederation of African Football.
The WAFCON will be hosted by Morocco in 2024, two years after the same country organised the last edition, with the Super Falcons hoping to qualify and improve on their disappointing fourth-place finish.
The Women’s Champions League is scheduled for Cote d’Ivoire later this year, with Delta Queens representing Nigeria after winning the domestic title for the first time in 12 years.
Both draws will be held in Rabat, Morocco, the Women’s Champions League procedure coming up first tomorrow before the WAFCON ceremony on Thursday.
The two draws will begin at 6pm Nigerian time, according to CAF, who hailed the recent growth of women’s football on the continent.
“The previous edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (2022) broke many records both in fan attendance and television audiences,” CAF stated.
“This once again underscored the growth of Women’s Football in Africa. The final of the WAFCON was shown in over 85 countries globally – breaking new grounds for the event.”
The dates for the CAF Women’s Champions League – now in its third edition – in Cote d’Ivoire will be confirmed in due course, according to the continental ruling body.
Mamelodi Sundowns won the inaugural edition in 2021, while AS FAR of Morocco won it last year.
