DESIRE Oparanozie could be involved in Thursday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup clash between the Super Falcons of Nigeria and Australia after regaining her fitness.
The striker missed Nigeria’s opening Group B 0-0 draw with Canada in Melbourne on Friday with an injury she sustained in training but she is back fit and is in line to face the co-hosts in Brisbane.
Oparanozie trained on her own, kicking the ball on the side of the pitch as the other players were drilled by head coach Randy Waldrum and his assistants today.
The China-based star could play some part in Thursday’s game, with the team needing to get goals and Asisat Oshoala nursing a knock.
The versatile Jennifer Echegini, Uchenna Kanu and Ifeoma Onumonu can also play upfront for the nine-time African champions.
Meanwhile, Australia captain and talisman Sam Kerr is not expected to be fit for the clash as the Chelsea striker continues to nurse the injury that ruled her out of their 1-0 victory over Republic of Ireland on Thursday.
