THE Peoples Democratic Party campaign council for the next governorship election in Imo State has requested that its members take all necessary measures to guarantee that the party wins in the poll on November 11.

Governor Dauda Lawal of the Zamfara State during the campaign council’s first meeting today, at the party’s headquarters in Abuja emphasized the importance of members stepping up their efforts.

He also reminded them of their goal, which was to defeat the governor in office.

The purpose of the gathering is to discuss the best campaign strategy the PDP should use when elections begin the following week.

The PDP is an opposition party that, like other opposition parties, seeks to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC)-affiliated governor Hope Uzodimma in Imo State.

The PDP’s state chairman, Charles Ugwu, urged the party’s leadership to reach out to all of the state’s disgruntled party members.

While supporting the pick of the Zamfara governor to head the campaign council, senator Sam Anyanwu, a contender for governor, emphasized the importance of the PDP winning the upcoming election.

On November 11, voters in Kogi and Bayelsa, in addition to Imo, will choose governors for a four-year term.

These elections will be the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) first significant off-season elections since the 2023 general elections in March of this year.

The PDP is an opposition party in Imo State, and like other opposition parties, the party is hoping to wrest political power from the incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, the state PDP chairman, Charles Ugwu, appealed to the leadership of the party to reconcile all aggrieved members in the state

The governorship candidate, Senator Sam Anyanwu, while buttressing the choice of the Zamfara governor to lead the campaign council, underscored the significance of the PDP winning the forthcoming election.

Besides Imo, two other states — Kogi and Bayelsa — will head for the polls on November 11 to elect governors for a four-year term.

These elections will be the first major off-season elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the 2023 general elections in March this year.
