THE governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has expressed concern about the state’s 680,000 out-of-school children.

Governor Sani, while noting that the figure is disturbing and unacceptable, encouraged all stakeholders to assist the administration in reversing the trend so that the state can make genuine progress in the battle against insecurity, illiteracy, and building a better future.

The governor stated this yesterday during a meeting with senior citizens and elders from Kaduna State to update them on his administration’s progress.

He stated that his administration has begun the construction of approximately sixty-two new secondary schools using a $28 million Kuwait money to relieve Kaduna State’s classroom gap.

Governor Sani also emphasized the state’s current security challenges and the urgent need for all hands on deck.

While lauding the governor for his open-door approach, the elders agreed to work with the government on policy, security, development, and other state-related issues.

Senior citizens and elders from the state were present at the meeting, which was held at the Executive Council Chamber of Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna, the state capital, and was led by a former military governor of Rivers State, Retired General Zamani Lekwot, and a former Head of Service in Kaduna State, Abubakar Mustapha.
