A former Deputy Minority Whip and member representing Kaltungo/Shongom Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Fatima Binta-Bello, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a letter dated October 5, 2023, and addressed to the party’s Chairman in Shongom ward, Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State, Binta-Bello conveyed her decision to quit the party, effective Thursday.
Binta-Bello, who has been a party member for over 20 years, did not disclose any specific reason for her departure.
She was defeated in 2019 by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bulus Amos when she aspired to move to the Senate to represent Gombe South.
Binta-Bello is a former Deputy Chairman of Shongom Local Government Area and Commissioner under the administration of former Governor Muhammad Goje.
She, however, thanked the entire leadership of the party, noting that the decision to quit the party was hard, but taken after consultations with her associates.
