THE Anambra State’s Joint Security Forces yesterday stormed into a “insurgent’s camp” at Ogbunka in Orumba South Local Government Area, rescuing three abducted persons, including a Reverend Father, unharmed.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement released today that the police-led Forward Operating Base (FOB) comprised of military and paramilitary Services based in Aguata and supported by Police Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu arrested three suspects in the well-coordinated operation.

He stated that security officers recovered nine vehicles, three pump action pistols, a stolen camouflage suit, a Biafra flag, many handsets, flash drives, and SIM cards, all of which will aid in a thorough investigation and prosecution.

According to a police spokeswoman, the gang is responsible for a recent series of abductions in Orumba North and South, as well as parts of Aguata LGAs.

He stated that all of the abducted persons were taken this month.

DSP Ikenga stated that the raid on the rebels’ camp came after months of meticulous intelligence collection and investigation that led to the discovery of the criminal’s hideout.

According to the statement, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, who authorized and directed the operation, congratulated all service personnel and vigilante men involved for their professionalism in ensuring no lives were lost.

The statement further revealed that Governor Chukwuma Soludo also commended the operatives and committed to continue to support all services involved in Joint Security Operations across the state.
