Many stranded as tanker explodes on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also referred to as petrol, exploded on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Many vehicles and travelers were stranded after an incident occurred yesterday night near the OPIC axis in Isheri, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The scenario led several drivers to drive one-way and caused commuters to flee to safety.

The source of the explosion is unknown, as is the truck driver’s destination. No emergency or police personnel were seen at the scene of the explosion as of the time of filing this story.

This is not the first time an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has occurred.

Only five days ago, a man who has yet to be identified died in an accident involving 16 people at the Magboro Bus Stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The incident, which occurred about 7:50 a.m., was said to have injured seven more people.

The accident was said to have involved two vehicles: a Mercedes Benz ML350 with license plate AKD424HH and a Volkswagen commercial bus with license plate KSF934YA.

According to an eyewitness, the Mercedes Benz crashed into a commercial bus parked at the bus stop while attempting to escape a road user.
