THE captain of the Super Falcons Onome Ebi has returned home to sign for Nigeria Women’s Football League club Naija Ratels on the same day that her international teammate Ashleigh Plumptre scored a hat-trick on her debut for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad Ladies.

Ebi, who made FIFA Women’s World Cup history by playing at her sixth tournament in the 2023 edition in August, was presented by the Abuja-based club today.

The 40-year-old central defender is likely planning to end her career with Naija Ratels after taking her talent around the world.

After kicking off her storied career with Princess Jegede Babes of Lagos from where she joined Bayelsa Queens in 2008, Ebi has played for clubs in Sweden, Turkey, Belarus and Spain for the last 15 years.

She was officially presented today by Naija Ratels and will wear the No.5 jersey when the Nigerian women’s top flight resumes.

In Saudi Arabia also today, Plumptre marked her debut for Al-Ittihad by scoring all three goals in their 3-0 victory over Eastern Flame on the opening matchday of the women’s top flight campaign.

The 25-year-old defender joined Al-Ittihad in September from Leicester City after three seasons with the English club.
