SAMUEL Chukwueze sustained an injury during the international break with the Super Eagles, it has been confirmed.

The AC Milan forward joins his Nigeria international teammate Victor Osimhen on the injured list after the friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal.

Chukwueze, who joined Milan from Villarreal this summer, will be unavailable for the upcoming fixtures against Juventus in Serie A and Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League following the injury.

Like Osimhen, Chukwueze played in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia on Friday but missed Monday’s 3-2 win over Mozambique.

The 24-year-old winger sustained a hamstring injury and was subsequently ruled out of the Mozambique match.

Although it is not clear how long Chukwueze will be out for, Milan confirmed in a statement today that there is a lesion to his femoral bicep.

Given the nature of the injury, it could take Chukwueze around four weeks to make a full recovery and return to action.

Chukwueze and Osimhen were both in the Nigeria squad that won the FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Chile in 2015 and are both set to miss the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe in November.
