ONDO: Police arrest man for shooting two youths during festival

THE Ondo State Police Command today stated that it had arrested one Chief Moses Adeyemo for allegedly shooting two people during a traditional event in Ogbagi Akoko community, Akoko North-West Local Government Area, Ondo State.

Adeyemo allegedly committed the crime while the community’s youths were chanting songs around town to chastise and shame any indigene person who had engaged in any type of vice, in accordance with the festival’s traditions.

According to a police source, when the youths arrived at the suspect’s house, the latter shot into the air randomly to disperse them.

Two of the youths got hit by a stray bullet, but they survived as they were quickly transported to the hospital.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmi Odunlami, acknowledged the incident and the arrest and stated that the matter had been passed to the command’s headquarters in Akure.

“The matter has been transferred to Akure for further investigation,” the PPRO stated.
