A 28-year-old who is seeking to set a world record, Promise Nwosu, arrived in the South-South state of Rivers State this afternoon following a five-day walk from Lagos State in South-West Nigeria.

Promise, who is from Rivers State’s Emohua Local Government Area but goes by “Wene Port Harcourt” on social media, hopes to set a Guinness World Record for the longest distance completed on foot.

On October 17, he headed off from the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State and arrived at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt today.

The estimated distance is 606 kilometers.

Residents cheered as the prospective World Record breaker traveled down the streets of Port Harcourt.

He was greeted by a cheering audience as he arrived at the Government House gate, where he was greeted by Rivers State Government officials led by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

In his speech, Governor Fubara commended the 28-year-old’s bravery and urged other young people to channel their energy into important initiatives.

The Governor pledged to do “something special” for him on Monday.

He stated that hearing about his trip in the midst of recent news of insecurity in the state was fascinating.

With the marathon done, Guinness World Records is anticipated to preview the event and render a decision soon.
