ERLING Haaland was involved in all three goals today as Manchester City defeated Manchester United 3-0 in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford.

The margin could have been far more but for some spectacular saves by Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana as City won with embarrassing ease.

Haaland, who was the top scorer in the league last season, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after the kick was awarded for a foul by Rasmus Hojlund following a lengthy Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check.

The Norway striker sent Onana the wrong with the spot kick in the 26th minute and only a magnificent stop from the Cameroon goalkeeper prevented Haaland from extending the advantage before half-time.

City continued to dominate in the second half, passing through the United midfield with ease and carving the fragile defence open at will.

They got their second goal four minutes after the break, Haaland heading home from close range unmarked following a fluid move.

Onana stood between Haaland and a hat-trick with some brilliant saves but the Norwegian still played a part in the third goal.

After yet another save from Onana, the ball fell to Haaland who squared to Phil Foden for a tap-in 10 minutes from time.

The match was the first in the Premier League at Old Trafford since the passing of Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, but the home side were as flat as they have been all season as supporters from both sides joined to pay tribute to the late England legend.

With today’s brace, Haaland now has as many Premier League goals this season (11) as Manchester United do as a team.

Manchester United have now lost five of their first 10 league games for the first time since 1986/1987 and are eighth in the table, nine points adrift of City in third spot.
