THE Senate has authorized 7.8 billion dollars and 100 million euros in President Bola Tinubu’s intended borrowing plan for 2022-2024.
The President had written to the Senate requesting that the 2022-2024 External Borrowing Plan be considered and approved as soon as possible to ensure project completion.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, also announced Tinubu’s request for confirmation of the Nomination of the 10 Resident Electoral Commissioners for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with Section 154(1) of the constitution, with the Senate beginning their screening.
The Senate also approved the appointment of seven of President Tinubu’s candidates as Residents Electoral Commissioners.
Etekamba Umoren of Akwaibom, Isha Ehimeakne of Edo, Barr. Oluwatoyin Babalola of Ekiti, Abubakar Ahmed of Gombe, Shehu Wahab of Kwara, Aminu Idris of Nasarawa, and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq of Niger have been recognized as nominees.
The other three nominees were not present for the screening.
