TWO alleged Boko Haram terrorists were apprehended by forces from the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano State’s Gezawa Local Government Area.
The arrest came during a security operation raid on the terrorists’ hideout in the early hours of today.
In a statement, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the arrest, saying troops from three Brigade Nigerian Army worked closely with DSS operatives to conduct a well-coordinated raid operation, adding that the suspects were believed to be planning a major operation in Kano.
“Consequently, the troops swiftly swung into action and apprehended two BHT suspects, who are now in custody,” the statement read.
“During the operation, the joint troops of the Nigerian Army and the DSS recovered five AK 47 Rifles, five AK 47 Rifle Magazines, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), five RPG Bombs, six Hand Grenades, five pairs of Desert Camouflage Uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches and some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials.”
Nwachukwu emphasized the army’s dedication to ridding the country of security concerns, saying the operation is a testament of interagency teamwork.
According to him, the successful raid operation demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to protecting our citizens’ lives and property.
According to the army spokesman, the military is determined to confront and degrade insurgency and other forms of security problems across the country.
He also asked Nigerians to provide the army and other security agencies with timely and trustworthy intelligence that can help in ongoing operations to combat insecurity, noting that the military is determined to safeguard citizens.
