THE Osun State’s judiciary employees have gone on an indefinite strike under the direction of State Chief Judge Justice Adepele Ojo, to voice their complaints over perceived injustice and persecution.
The workers have since on Monday picketed the State High Court Court in Osogbo, the state capital, to demand for the reinstatement of their suspended members.
In addition, they requested that certain allowances to which they are entitled be paid.
Today, the third day of the demonstration, tear gas canisters were used to disperse the crowd by a police unit dispatched to the scene to uphold law and order.
Olugbenga Eludire, the chairman of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Osun State, revealed that several of his members were hurt as a result of the police’s actions.
According to him, the union has decided to go on an indefinite strike in order to press its demands.
According to Yemisi Opalola, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State officers Command, no one was hurt when officers used the canisters to disperse the throng.
Kanmi Ajibola, the chairman of the Osun State House of Assembly Committee on Justice, stated that the House was looking into the accusations made against the top judge.
He promised that a fair hearing would be provided to all parties in compliance with the law.
