GOVERNOR Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ordered the immediate freezing of all state and local government accounts, just days after chastising his aides for what he called bad depiction of his administration.

Asiru Idris, the Commissioner for Finance, said in a statement today that no imprest or other type of payment shall be given to anyone from Government Account from now on.

According to the statement, all “standing orders and investment instructions are hereby cancelled forthwith”.

“All Kogi State and Local Government Accounts are hereby frozen with effect from today, Thursday 22nd November 2003.”

Bello is slated to pass over control to the Governor-Elect, Usman Ododo, in January 2024, at the completion of his eight-year double tenure.

Ododo, an ex-Auditor General of Local Government in Kogi under Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had won the Kogi State Governorship Election on November 11, 2023.
