NAPOLI have all but confirmed that Victor Osimhen is back to full fitness by naming the Nigeria international in their squad to face Atalanta in a Serie A clash tomorrow.
The Super Eagles striker has been out of action since October 13 when he was taken off early during the friendly against Saudi Arabia in Portugal.
Osimhen returned to training recently after missing several Napoli matches and Nigeria’s opening 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe last week.
The 24-year-old Osimhen, the top scorer in Serie A last season as Napoli won their first Scudetto in 33 years, is now set for his first bit of match action in six weeks.
He is included in Walter Mazzarri’s 24-man squad for tomorrow’s Serie A clash in Bergamo, where the striker could come face to face with his Super Eagles teammate Ademola Lookman of Atalanta.
It will be Napoli’s first match under Mazzarri since he took over from Rudi Garcia, who was fired just before the international break following poor results.
Mazzarri’s second Napoli debut (he previously coached the club from 2009 to 2013) will also be boosted by the return from injury of goalkeeper Alex Meret and midfielder Piotr Zielinski.
Despite his injury problems, Osimhen has scored an impressive six goals in eight Serie A appearances this season.
The Super Eagles striker is however likely to start on the bench tomorrow, with Giancomo Raspadori entrusted with the centre forward role.
