SAMUEL Chukwueze scored his first goal for AC Milan last night but it was not enough to prevent them from going down 3-1 at home to Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League Group F clash at San Siro.
The Super Eagles winger produced a moment of magic in the 37th minute, bamboozling two defenders before firing a low shot into the net.
Chukwueze’s goal was the equaliser after Marco Reus had given the German visitors a 10th minute lead from the penalty spot.
Milan crumbled after going level as
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Germany international with Nigerian heritage, Karim Adeyemi, struck in the second half to seal Dortmund’s spot in the round of 16.
Also in Group F, Paris Saint-Germain needed a penalty deep into stoppage time from Kylian Mbappe to snatch a crucial point at home to Newcastle United.
The English side struck first through Alexander Isak in the 24th minute and were nearly clinging on to a famous win until PSG were awarded a penalty for handball after a VAR review, which Mbappe converted in the eighth minute of added time.
Dortmund lead the group standings with 10 points from five matches, followed by PSG with seven, while Newcastle United and AC Milan have five each.
PSG are away to Dortmund in December in the final matchday and a draw would send the French champions through to the knockout rounds regardless of the result of the other fixture between Newcastle United and AC Milan.
In Group G, champions Manchester City achieved a stunning turnaround, coming from 2-0 down to beat RB Leipzig 3-2 and ensure they win their Champions League group again.
Lois Openda scored two superb breakaway goals in the first half to silence the Etihad Stadium crowd but City responded after the break as Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez completed the comeback.
The result ensured that City retained their 100 percent record this season as both sides advanced.
In the other fixture in the group, Super Eagles forward Peter Olayinka was an unused substitute as his Red Star Belgrade side were beaten 2-0 by Young Boys
Red Star Belgrade are bottom of the group with one point, three adrift of Young Boys in the race for a UEFA Europa League spot.
In other matches tonight, in Group H, Nigeria left-back Zaidu Sanusi played the full game for FC Porto in their 2-1 defeat at Barcelona while his compatriots Alhassan Yusuf and Chidera Ejuke featured for Royal Antwerp in their 1-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk.
Barcelona sealed their place in the round of 16 with the win as they took their points tally 12, with Porto and Shakhtar on nine each. Royal Antwerp are pointless at the bottom.
