LEICESTER City manager Enzo Maresca has described how important Wilfred Ndidi was to the side’s 2-1 Championship victory over West Brom on Saturday.
Ndidi set up Dewsbury-Hall for Leicester City ‘s opening goal as the Foxes retained their place at the top of the table in the quest for a quick return to the Premier League.
The Super Eagles midfielder, playing in a more advanced role, found space to cross the ball to Dewsbury-Hall who netted in the 72nd minute.
Maresca said the move was one they planned in training.
“We’ve worked on that (the move for the first goal) many times since we started,” the former Manchester City assistant coach explained.
“We’ve already scored some goals [from that] and we did again today. The important thing is that they are in the right position because Wilf (Wilfred Ndidi) was in the right position and we were in the right position for Kiernan.
“It’s not only the energy for the goal, but the energy for the whole game after playing on Wednesday night. When you play Wednesday and the opposition play Tuesday, then you play Saturday at 12, it’s a huge difference. They showed character.”
Ndidi has now registered four assists and one goal in 15 appearances in the Championship this season as he leads Leicester City’s charge for promotion.
