OSUN: 18 Pupils hospitalised after eating govt free meal, probe begins

EIGHTEEN pupils from St James Primary School B in Owoope, Osogbo, were reportedly hospitalized after eating a mid-day meal provided by the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration’s free school feeding program.

The Osun State Government stated that investigations into the incident had begun and that free meals have been suspended in the impacted school pending the outcome of the investigations.

According to the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Alimi, the affected cooks in the schools, as well as the O-Meal program’s planning officer, were summoned to a meeting this morning.

The commissioner stated that the governor directed the enforcement of food standard and control as well as the auditing of the O-Meal structure to forestall recurrence.

He added that the affected students’ medical expenses had been paid in full and that they had received treatment before being released.

According to Alimi, a government delegation, will pay the families of the affected students a visit.
