ARSENAL returned to the top of the English Premier League standings today after easing to a 2-0 victory over Brighton at the Emirates Stadium.

Also today, Aston Villa came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the hosts bringing on Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka in the second half, while Ghana international Mohammed Kudus scored twice in West Ham United’s 3-1 victory over Wolves.

The Gunners produced a dominant performance to overcome Brighton, who won 3-0 at the same venue last season, with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz netting in the second half today.

With the victory, Arsenal rose above Liverpool to the top of the table, with the Reds two points adrift as they get set to host wobbling Manchester United this evening.

Unai Emery’s revolution at Aston Villa continued apace today as Alex Moreno and Ollie Watkins struck in the final 13 minutes to cancel out Keane Lewis-Potter’s early opening goal for the hosts.

Nigeria international Onyeka was brought on in the 68th minute, while both sides had players sent off — Ben Mee for Brentford in the 71st minute and Boubacar Kamara for Villa in stoppage time.

At the London Stadium, Kudus scored the first two goals as West Ham recovered from last week’s 5-0 hammering at Fulham to beat Wolves 3-0.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in the summer, has now contributed five goals and one assist in 14 Premier League appearances for the Hammers.
