REMO Stars scored two late goals in Ikenne today to beat Lobi Stars 2-0 in a Nigeria Premier Football League top-of-the-table clash.

Lobi Stars were on the verge of escaping with a share of the points until the prolific Sikiru Alimi struck one minute into added time and Olamilekan Adams sealed the win five minutes later.

The win took Remo Stars to the top of the standings, one point ahead of Doma United, with Lobi Stars third three points adrift.

Also today, Bendel Insurance rose to fourth spot after a 1-0 win over Abia Warriors at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

Evans Ogbonda scored in the seventh minute for the hosts and they held on until the end as Abia Warriors slipped to eighth.

There were also home victories for Gombe United, Niger Tornadoes and Kwara United today in other NPFL fixtures.

Gombe United edged out Katsina United 1-0 in Pantami, Mojeeb Odufeso netting the only goal 14 minutes from time, while Bashir Usman struck in the 90th minute to earn Niger Tornadoes a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars.

Kwara United also needed two second-half goals from Kabiru Balogun and Sadeeq Yusuf to overturn Albert Hilary’s early strike as they beat Plateau United 2-1.

Sporting Lagos scored a 90th minute equaliser through Salaudeen Aliu to earn a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena after the prolific Robert Mizo’s 24th minute opener.

Akwa United, who recently fired head coach Fatai Osho, drew 0-0 at home in Eket with Sunshine Stars.
