A traffic accident that happened today in Kaduna State’s Makarfi Local Government Area claiming sixteen lives, leaving four others injured.
A bus that was travelling from Kano to Markudi in Benue State was involved in the accident that happened at Tashar Yari area at around 11:20 in this morning.
According to a statement made by Kabir Nadabo, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ (FRSC) Kaduna State Sector Commander, the accident was caused by overspeeding, which lead to the driver losing control of the steering and crashing into a ditch.
He added that according to the preliminary inquiry, the crash involved 20 passengers, 16 of whom died.
Four more people were sent to Makarfi General Hospital to receive emergency care after suffering injuries.
