TARABA: Govt bans motorcycles, restricts use of tricycles in Jalingo

THE Taraba State Government has prohibited the use of motorbikes of any kind in Jalingo, the state capital, and has restricted tricycle mobility between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

According to the state government, the step is in response to a dramatic increase in criminal activity in Jalingo.

This comes after a task force committee was formed to discuss a total ban on motorcycle use (okada) and tricycle control (keke).

The committee formed by state deputy Governor Aminu Alkali on behalf of the Governor will be chaired by the Taraba state commissioner of police, Joseph Eribo.

Members of the committee include the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Taraba Marshal, and Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), as well as the Secretary, Home Affairs, and Special

Defaulters will be arrested and tried by the mobile court, and their motorcycles and tricycles confiscated and destroyed.
