THE Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, Professor Godwin Emezue, was abducted by hoodlums today in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South Local Government Area.
According to a statement released by the Abia State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, the DVC was abducted while getting fuel at a petrol station with his wife.
She revealed that the hoodlums took the victim’s wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV and fled with him.
The PPRO stated that the Command is sending resources and assets, including information and technical assistance, to solve the crime and securely rescue the victim from his kidnappers.
The police asked Abians to stay calm and conduct their legitimate activities while remaining vigilant and security conscious.
The Command also requested the public’s cooperation, particularly in giving any beneficial information that could be used in these specific situations, as well as in achieving enhanced security in the state in general.
