SUPER Eagles of Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman is counting down to the day the team will hopefully play the final and win the AFCON 2023 Africa Cup of Nations trophy in Cote d’Ivoire.
Lookman has been one of the standout players for the Super Eagles as they have remained unbeaten in their quest for the title.
The Atalanta star has scored three goals in Nigeria’s five games and was named Man of the Match of the round of 16 victory over Cameroon after netting the two goals in the 2-0 win.
After scoring the only goal against Angola last night that propelled the Super Eagles to the semi-finals, Lookman hinted at his AFCON 2023 ambitions.
“ONE STEP CLOSER,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, indicating that his dream was getting closer to being realised.
The England-born 26-year-old is eyeing his second international trophy after helping his country of birth win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2017.
Lookman completed his switch to Nigeria in 2022 and has registered five goals and four assists in 17 appearances for the three-time African champions.
