A rally to celebrate Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s Supreme Court victory in Rivers State’s Ahoada West Local Government Area turned chaotic when some youths, allegedly acting on the Council Chairman’s orders, vandalized canopies and chairs at the original venue.

The event was relocated to another location, where the Council Chairman addressed the allegation and the rally proceeded successfully.

The Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, Hope Ikiriko, encouraged the locals to hold their own thanksgiving event and emphasized the importance of conducting themselves appropriately.

Despite the initial disruption, the event was well-attended by past and present lawmakers, commissioners, and the Governor’s representative.

The leader of Governor Fubara’s supporters in Ahoada West, Sokari Goodboy, called on the presidency and police high command to take note of the provocative actions.

Additionally, Governor Fubara’s representative, former Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Evans Bipi, advised the crowd not to be intimidated by rumors of being suspended from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other threats.

The rally also saw defections from the opposition party to the PDP in support of Governor Fubara.

Similar rallies across the state have seen supporters organizing street processions and open-air thanksgiving services to celebrate the governor’s Supreme Court victory.
