THE Governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, in a move to address the issue of insecurity as part of his administration’s efforts has enacted the State Security Trust Fund into law.

The new law supersedes the State Security Trust Fund Law No. 22 of 2018, as announced in a statement today by Governor Sani’s Chief Press Secretary, Muhammad Shehu.

The legislation aims to allocate funds for the procurement and deployment of security equipment, as well as the allocation of human and financial resources essential for the effective operations of all federal, state, and local government security agencies operating in Kaduna State.

Governor Sani emphasized that a portion of the security funds will be set aside for the training and retraining of security personnel.

Additionally, the law establishes the State Security Trust Fund board of trustees, empowered to manage, purchase, and acquire any property for the trust fund.

It was also stated that representatives from the private sector will collaborate with other essential stakeholders in the security sector to oversee the fund.

Governor Sani highlighted that enacting the security trust fund law underscores the state government’s dedication to combating terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements that have besieged certain communities in Kaduna State.

He emphasized that the security trust fund will enable the state government to provide support to local and federal security agencies with equipment and logistics.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the funds will be utilized for ongoing training and retraining of security personnel to effectively address current and emerging security threats. Part of the funds will also be directed towards psychological operations aimed at garnering public support.

Governor Sani urged corporate organizations and individuals with a sense of civic responsibility to contribute generously to the fund, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
