EDO: Pastor Azena wins NNPP governorship primary

A Pentecostal pastor, Azemhe Azena, has emerged as the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s (NNPP) candidate for the September 21, Edo State’s governorship election.

The National Publicity Secretary, Yakubu Shendam, said this today in Abuja .

Sen. Kawu Sumaila, Chairman of the NNPP Primary Election Committee, stated yesterday that Azena received 211 votes to defeat three other candidates, including his closest challenger Peter Okieguale, who received 100 votes at the party’s primary election held in Benin City, Edo State.

Azena also defeated Rev. Sebastian Iyere and Balogun Engeyemhe, who received 25 and 17 votes respectively.

Shendam added that the exercise was watched by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission, representatives from security agencies, and members of civil society organizations.

Azena is a Nigerian pastor and teleevangelist. He was born on December 25, 1979, in Okpekpe, Etsako-East Local Government Area of Edo State and pastor’s at Omega Church & Ministries Centre.

He is popularly known as the “son of the oracle” and is well-known for his unique ability to shape and create characters.
