THE Katsina State Police Command yesterday successfully thwarted an abduction effort, saved the hostages, and seized a motorcycle used by the alleged kidnappers.

The spokesperson for the police in Katsina, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, announced today that the event took place near Baure Village in the Kankara Local Government Area around 6:30 pm.

The intervention was initiated when the Kankara Police Divisional Headquarters was alerted about an assault by suspected armed kidnappers on drivers, aiming to abduct them.

According to the statement, the DPO of Kankara, CSP Hassan Musa, promptly dispatched a squad to confront the kidnappers, resulting in an intense exchange of gunfire.

The police not only deterred the assailants but also rescued an individual already abducted by the kidnappers.

In light of this achievement, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, the state’s Police Commissioner, commended the officers for their courage, commitment, and professional conduct.

CP Musa also stated that active efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and advised the community to report anyone with gunshot wounds, as it’s likely that some suspects fled with injuries from the encounter.

He also urged the good people of the state, to continue to provide the command and other security agencies in the state with timely information on suspected criminal activities, to enable swift and decisive action against any recalcitrant criminal in the state.

The Police Commissioner reiterated the force’s dedication to safeguarding the populace and their assets in Katsina during his tenure.
