MANCHESTER City manager Pep Guardiola is sure his Liverpool rival Jurgen Klopp will return to the dugout in the near future.

Both teams played out a thrilling 1-1 draw at Anfield yesterday in what would be their last English Premier League meeting as Klopp has announced he would quit Liverpool at the end of this season to take a break from coaching.

John Stones drew first blood for champions Manchester City yesterday before Alexis Mac Allister equalised for Liverpool from the penalty spot.

Guardiola and Klopp shared a long and warm embrace after the final whistle, with the coaches showing mutual respect and admiration.

“Jurgen Klopp? He will be back. He loves the job too much!” Guardiola told reporters afterwards.

“What can I say? He made us a better team, he made me a better manager. I wish he will be back soon because football needs personalities like him.”

The draw left the title race tighter than ever, with Arsenal on top, ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, and City one point behind.

“Thirty points to play for, one point difference. We are there,” Guardiola noted.

While City are in the hunt for a record fourth straight Premier League title under Guardiola, Liverpool are searching for their second in 34 years and second under Klopp, who won it first in 2020.

On their part, Arsenal have not won the title since their ‘Invincibles’ claimed it unbeaten in 2004, seven years before their current manager Mikel Arteta joined the club as a player.
