SUPER Eagles of Nigeria defender Bright Osayi-Samuel could be on his way back to England in the summer following reported interest from Leeds United.
The full-back, who was in the Super Eagles squad to the AFCON 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January and February, is currently with Fenerbahce in Turkey, but he began his professional football career in England.
Leeds United have been interested in Osayi-Samuel for some time, according to Sport Witness, and are now intensifying efforts to sign the Nigeria international.
Fenerbahce have reportedly rejected Leeds United’s advances in the past but things could change this summer following a serious bid.
According to Turkish newspaper Gazete Damga today, Leeds United have made a £7m bid for the the right-back, which could tempt Fenerbahce to consider a deal.
Gazete Damga added that those in charge at Fenerbahce ‘requested that the negotiations’ be pushed back ‘until the summer’, since they are not ready to make a decision until the end of the current season.
Osayi-Samuel, 26, previously played for Blackpool (79 appearances) and Queens Park Rangers (115 appearances) before joining Fenerbahce in January 2021 for around £500,000.
Overall, he has played 128 times for Fenerbahce, scoring six goals and making 11 assists. This season, he has made 28 appearances in all competitions with three goals and four assists.
Leeds United are currently second in the English Championship, two points behind leaders Leicester City and one ahead of third-placed Ipswich Town in the race for the two automatic promotion spots to the Premier League.
