THE Falconets of Nigeria have qualified for the final of the women’s football event of the 13th African Games after beating Uganda 2-0 in Cape Coast, Ghana tonight.

The Nigeria U-20s are on course for back-to-back gold medals having clinched the title at the last Games in Rabat, Morocco in 2019.

Substitutes Adaobi Okah and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu scored the goals to take the Falconets past the stubborn East Africans.

Uganda proved to be tough nuts for the Falconets, defending resolutely as the first half ended goalless.

Okah finally broke the deadlock in the 74th minute, just three minutes after replacing Olushola Shobowale, to ease the pressure on the Nigerians.

Okwuchukwu, who came on at the same time as Okah in place of Motunrayo Ezekiel, sealed the win for the Falconets one minute before the end of regulation time.

The Falconets will play either Ghana or Senegal in Thursday’s final.
