Beverly Naya, a prominent actress in the Nigerian film industry, recently shared a personal experience where she nearly gave up her acting career.
In a candid interview with Chude Jideonwo, the 34-year-old actress revealed that a blog post caused her self-esteem to plummet.
The post read, “Nollywood, Can We Please Stop Making Beverly Naya Happen!” and made her feel depressed and doubtful of her abilities.
According to Naya, the negative post almost made her quit acting on several occasions.
She said, “It really got to me and it damaged my self-esteem and it made me doubt myself like I don’t feel like I want to continue in this industry, I wanted to quit on several occasions.”
However, she has since won an international award and the blog no longer exists.
