THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the dates for the finals of the Champions League and Confederation Cup for this season, with Nigeria’s Rivers United still in the race for the latter.
The finals will be played on home and away basis in May.
The first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final is scheduled for Sunday, May 12, with the return leg seven days later.
Rivers United are up against holders USM Alger in the quarter-finals of the competition, with the first leg billed for Uyo on Sunday.
The CAF Champions League final first leg will be on Saturday, May 18, and the second leg a week later.
The other teams left in the CAF Confederation Cup are Stade Malien of Mali, Dreams FC of Ghana, Abu Salim of Libya, RS Berkane of Morocco, Modern Future of Egypt and Zamalek of Egypt.
In the CAF Champions League, the clubs vying for the title include Simba of Tanzania, Al Ahly of Egypt, TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Petro Atletico of Angola.
The others in the quarter-finals are Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Young Africans of Tanzania, Esperance of Tunisia and ASEC of Cote d’Ivoire.
The first legs of the quarter-finals of both complications will be played this weekend.
