TWO Super Eagles of Nigeria stars, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, were both involved today when Napoli hosted Atalanta in a Serie A clash at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Osimhen was on from the start for Napoli while Lookman came off the bench for Atalanta, who stunned their hosts 3-0.

Atalanta’s two frontmen Aleksey Miranchuk and Gianluca Scamacca struck in the first half as they took a 2-0 lead into the break.

With Osimhen, who missed the Super Eagles March friendlies through injury, leading the line, Napoli applied pressure after the break in a bid to pull level, but it was to no avail.

Lookman, who scored for the Super Eagles in their 2-1 friendly win over Ghana last week in Morocco, was introduced in the 61st minute in the place of Scamacca.

Atalanta were not just satisfied with holding off Napoli, they added insult to injury for the bumbling champions when substitute Teun Koopmeiners netted the third goal with two minutes left on the clock.

With the result, Atalanta boosted their chances in pursuit of a UEFA Champions League spot by moving to within four points of fourth-placed Bologna, with Napoli stuck in seventh place, five points further behind.

Osimhen, who was issued a yellow card in the first half, has produced impressive numbers despite Napoli’s dismal campaign, registering 11 goals and three assists in 18 Serie A appearances.

On his part, Lookman has eight goals and three assists in 23 Serie A games.
