THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the Rivers State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress for allegedly seeking to force Governor Siminalayi Fubara to violate the law.

The PDP condemned the members’ recent threat to impeach Fubara as an embarrassment and a public nuisance for the state.

The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Sydney Gbara, revealed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt today.

Recall that the 27 lawmakers alleged to be loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stated yesterday that they may revisit Fubara’s impeachment as a final resort to enforce their responsibilities and preserve the constitution.

Speaker of the House Martin Amaewhule, who read a statement to reporters, accused Fubara of acting illegally despite signing the presidential peace deal during the state’s political crisis, saying that the state was operating without an approved budget.

However, Gbara urged lawmakers who allegedly defected from the PDP to the APC without consulting their constituents to stop upsetting the state’s calm and allow Fubara to focus on governing and delivering his mandate to the people.

The state PDP spokesman warned the lawmakers led by Amaewhule not to lose sight of the fact that their legitimacy is being challenged in court.

Gbara stated that politicians have continued to pass retrogressive legislation and make statements that are detrimental to the state’s growth and development.
