The governor of Rivers state, Siminalayi Fubara, while addressing members of NULGE from the 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State during a solidarity rally at Government House Gate in Port Harcourt, issued a warning to those who perceive his adherence to the presidential peace pact as a form of weakness.

He mentioned that despite receiving numerous comments in the media regarding the peace pact, he had chosen to remain silent out of maturity and wisdom.

The Governor clarified that the agreement reached following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis in the State was a political solution, not a constitutional one.

He emphasized that his implementation of the agreement was out of respect for President Tinubu.

Governor Fubara cautioned that some political actors might be misinterpreting his compliance as a sign of weakness, stating that he would surprise them if they continued to view his actions in that light.

He expressed gratitude for the support shown by members of NULGE during the rally, highlighting the genuine backing his administration has received from the people.

Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of leaving a positive legacy and touched on various initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the people in Rivers State.

Furthermore, he assured local government workers of the implementation of the minimum wage increase and promotion plans, along with other benefits.

The Governor also asked for continued support for his administration, emphasizing the need for peaceful cooperation and adherence to established rules.

Lastly, Governor Fubara acknowledged the support of various labor unions and assured civil servants of his commitment to addressing their concerns and ensuring their meaningful contributions to the state’s development.
