JUSTICE Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court in Kano has scheduled a hearing on May 28 on a substantive application brought by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdullahi Ganduje.

Ganduje is challenging his suspension from the party, which is led by factional ward executives Basiru Nuhu Isa.

Ganduje’s suspension issue began on April 15, when he was initially suspended by APC ward executives led by Haladu Gwanjo. However, another side arose and announced Ganduje’s suspension on April 20, confusing the situation even more.

In response to the second suspension, the party’s secretary in Kano, Zakari Sarina, branded the faction’s acts as impersonation.

Ganduje, through his legal representation, Hadiza Nasir Ahmad, is pursuing legal action, claiming that his suspension without an opportunity to defend himself violates his fundamental right to a fair hearing. Furthermore, he claims that his suspension by the faction was illegal, null, and invalid.

In a recent court case, Ganduje’s counsel requested substituted service on the respondents, which Justice Liman allowed. As a result, the court has scheduled a complete hearing on May 28.
